Early-Age Neutering: A Practical Guide for Veterinarians

Producer: Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association

This instructional video - produced jointly by AVAR (Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights) and the University of California at Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine - demonstrates some useful techniques for veterinarians for neutering male and female puppies and kittens from 6 to 16 weeks of age or before sexual maturity. It also provides valuable information about the veterinarian’s role in helping to reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs in our society. The techniques shown in the video are meant to augment basic surgery skills by providing tips and encouragement for the veterinarian who has not performed surgery on small animals, as well as to provide information about the safety and benefits of pre-pubertal surgery.
